        POET’S DAWN finally showed some improvement for a tumble down the weights when finishing a close-up third at Carlisle last week. He gets fast ground again and was winning off an 18lb higher mark last year. Irv is another looking to exploit a slide down the handicap and he went close at Beverley while Far From A Ruby finished well ahead of Caballero when second at Ayr. Chinese Spirit won a classified race at Hamilton recently while Shine On Brendan completed a double at the same track last month.
