Novak Djokovic has rediscovered his best form during the second half of the season and returned to world No 1 for the first time since 2016 in early November.
The 31-year-old began the year with a comeback to the game after a six-month hiatus to recover from a long-term elbow injury.
Djokovic underwent surgery to cure the injury following the Australian Open but on his return to the game suffered shock defeats at Indian Wells and Miami, before he announced his split with coach Andre Agassi.
After reuniting with former long-term coach Maria Vajda, the Serbian enjoyed a semi-final run at the Rome Masters before reaching the French Open quarter-finals.
Since then he has won back-to-back Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon and US Open before becoming the first man to win all nine Masters 1000 titles with victory at the Cincinnati Masters.
